RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Los Angeles County — The City Council is scheduled to consider the formal acceptance of more than $55 million in federal grant funds for landslide-related property buyouts and long-term remediation at its November 4, 2026 meeting.
The city’s October 28 update says the average movement rate in still-active portions of the landslide boundary was 1.05 inches per week in surveys from early October, an increase of 7.6% since August. Those figures describe an average across mapped areas still moving; rates at a particular property may differ.
What the council will decide
The public announcement states that funding acceptance is scheduled for consideration. It does not mean a vote has occurred or that every property owner has been approved for a buyout. Affected residents should consult the city’s specific program criteria and staff reports for information on eligibility, applications and next steps.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. November 4 in McTaggart Hall at Hesse Park, with remote viewing and participation options. The city publishes agendas and instructions at rpvca.gov/agendas and rpvca.gov/participate.
