RANCHO PALOS VERDES, California — October 25, 2026. The city reported that its Council voted October 1, 2026, to extend landslide- and utility-related local emergencies through November 30. It also reported six new deep dewatering wells collectively pumping about 7.2 million gallons of water per week at the time of the update.
What residents should verify
These municipality-reported figures do not prove the Portuguese Bend landslide has stopped. The Council also approved emergency spending for dewatering and winterization. Property owners and people traveling near affected roads should check the city’s current landslide map, municipal restrictions and utility-provider updates; an older progress report is not a real-time safety clearance.
